(Mirror Daily, United States) – A 26-year-old truck driver from California and father of two children was declared dead on Monday, due to a fast-spreading tooth infection. The man’s family declared that he started experiencing the first symptoms of his tooth infection while he was behind the wheel.
Vadim Anatolyevich Kondratyuk was a 26-year-old father and truck driver from California. While hauling cargo for his company, Vadim experienced a sharp pain in his mouth. On route, the man decided to stop in Oklahoma and to ask the help of a medical professional.
The dentists visited by Vadim told the man he had a rather severe tooth infection, and prescribed him some powerful antibiotics, after carefully cleaning out the infected area. Vadim’s family said that the man took his medication, per the doctor’s order.
However, by the time the man arrived in New York City, his tooth pain came back, but this time it was sharper. Feeling that he is unable to complete his transport, Vadim called on this brother, who immediately arrived and took him to a hospital in Utah.
According to his family, by the time Vadim and his brother reached the Utah hospital, the man’s condition became critical. The ER doctors confirmed the dentist’s diagnostic of tooth infection. However, the antibiotics prescribed were not powerful enough to deal with Vadim’s fast-progressing infection.
As a result, the infection spread throughout the man’s body. When he was brought to the ICU, the man’s lungs were filled with so much fluid that he could hardly breathe. Vadim’s family was later called and informed about the man’s condition.
Unfortunately, despite the doctors’ best efforts to help the 26-year-old Sacramento truck driver fight off the infection, the battle was already lost. Vadim Anatolyevich Kondratyuk passed away on Monday, surrounded by his loved ones.
The man’s family had a modest financial situation and had to set up a GoFundMe account in order to raise the money needed for the man’s funeral. With the help of the public, Vadim’s family managed to raise $180,000, which is more than enough to cover the man’s transportation and funeral services.
The ER doctors who treated Vadim said that if the infection were diagnosed earlier, the man would have had a better chance of survival. They’ve also declared that even though tooth infections might seem harmless, they are quite dangerous since the infection can spread to the lungs and other organs.
