
A New York doorman bled to death after he accidentally severed his neck artery in a glass door.
(Mirror Daily, United States) – Upper East Side police officials declared a freak accident claimed the life of a 59-year-old doorman who worker at an apartment complex located at East 93rd Street. The man took a tumble on the snow-covered stairs and hit his head against the door. After the glass door had broken, one of the shards slit the man’s artery. The emergency response team could not save the doorman’s life.
This morning (10th of January) an emergency response team was called to an apartment complex situated on East 93rd Street, Upper East End. The emergency responders discovered a 59-year-old male in critical condition.
From their assessment of the situation, it would seem that the patient was a doorman working at the apartment complex. After last night’s snow, the man, identified as Miguel Angel Gonzalez, was cleaning the snow from the complex’s entrance when the accident occurred.
Danny Hernandez (31), Gonzalez’s colleague witnessed the events. According to the man, Gonzalez went that morning to clear the snow from the complex’s staircase. The entrance has seven stairs, and the doorman was standing on the sixth stair.
When he attempted to climb the last stair in order to complete his job, the man slipped and fell. According to the authorities, after the man lost his balance, he hit his head against the glass door. The impact was so powerful that the door broke. Unfortunately, one of the glass shards nicked the doorman’s artery.
Hernandez said that after seeing the doorman fall, he went to see if he’s alright. The man declared that Gonzalez initially said that he was fine and tried to get up. However, when Gonzalez tried to move his fingers, blood started pouring out of the open wound.
The man said that the doorman became unresponsive and that he contacted the emergency line. However, the paramedics who arrived at the scene could not save the man, as he lost a lot of blood.
The apartment complex’s residents were shocked to hear about the man’s death. Miguel Angel Gonzales has been employed at the apartment complex for more than three decades and was known to be a kind and generous individuals.
Hernandez said that the doorman was only two years away from retirement and that on the 14th of February, he was going to celebrate his 37th wedding anniversary. Many of the residents who knew the man declared that he will be missed and that it is sad that the doorman could not live to enjoy his retirement to Puerto Rico.
