Electronic Arts reveals Mirror Edge 2, the much-anticipated sequel of the PlayStation 4 and PC-Consoles game. The new game is set to be released in April 2016.
The world-renowned game producer hasn’t yet disclosed whether the new Mirror Edge version will be a prequel or a downright sequel.
Analysts are making assumptions regarding the new features that Mirror Edge 2 will include, as the company hasn’t made any similar declarations.
The recent announcement was intended for EA’s shareholders and not for the lay public, yet the press release has managed to calm down all critical voices related to the future of the game.
The production process has been put to a stand for more than four years, a lengthy period of time considering that other game producers take a smaller amount of time to release new versions of their existing platforms.
The news that Electronic Arts will be releasing the second sequel of Mirror Edge has emerged during E3 2014.
The producers slightly suggested then the appearance of the new version through several brief screenshots that were presented during the event.
The E3 2014 presentation of Electronic Art’s past and future prospects has mainly stressed the company’s income expectations for the future year.
There was little talk about the future projects that the company plans to develop, yet shareholders seemed satisfied with the information they received during the 2014 E3 event.
Although EA hasn’t named an exact date for the release of Mirror Edge 2, the simple fact that the company intends to make it available for consumers during its last fiscal quarter of the year, has given clients hopes.
This proves that EA hasn’t abandoned the game and narrows down the release period to a three-month interval.
Despite the good news, fans are legitimate to express their frustrations related to the release date of Mirror Edge 2.
They have already made repeated complaints given the four-year delay and they don’t seem very satisfied with the new release term either.
The majority of them claim that the April 2016 deadline is still too far for the release of the new console game.
EA has argued, on the other hand, that Mirror Edge 2 cannot be revealed prior to April 2016 as the new generation consoles will not be released until early 2016, either.
Further information about the new PlayStation 4 and Xbox One game is expected by the end of 2015.
