Leaked images show that Activision is allegedly working on a new Call of Duty title set during World War 2.
Bored of playing Infinite Warfare already? Well, if you’re planning on switching to DICE’s Battlefield 1, you might want to hold one because, according to a couple of leaked images Activision is hard at work, developing a new Call of Duty title. Although Activision did not confirm that the leaked images are associated with the new Call of Duty title, it would appear that the company is keeping its promise of returning to the game’s roots aka World War 2.
Well, according to the latest images leaked on the great world-wide-web, it appears that Activision it’s keeping its promise of releasing a new Call of Duty game inspired by the battles of World War 2. The leaked images appeared on a YouTube account just a few days ago.
Unfortunately, there’s nothing in the picture about graphics and gameplay. They’re actually artworks or, more specifically, DVD cover depicting the D-Day landing. However, they do prove that Activision is working on a new Call of Duty titled, one that will no doubt, put the players again in the boots of US Marine fighting in Europe during the Second World War.
So, how exactly is Activision going to pull this off considering that they have three titles and one expansion pack whose story takes place during the same period? Well, we don’t know for sure how this works, but it seems Activision is hell-bent on going back the game’s roots, and another tear-jerking World War 2 story wouldn’t hurt.
According to the company’s earlier statements, it would appear that franchise’s fans were not impressed by Call of Duty’s take on the future. More specifically, the fans said that every game that followed after Call of Duty Ghosts were riddled with clichés, and no matter how good the gadgets/weapons were, you were stuck playing the same story with predictable plot twists and fighting the enemy like there’s no tomorrow.
Now, will the new title be as dull and poorly optimized as World at War, the last Call of Duty game which took place during the Second World War, or will be a breath of fresh air? Only time will tell and, knowing Activision, we should probably expect an official comment sometime during April.
For now, enjoy you Infinite Warfare game, keep your fingers crossed, and hope for the best. If you still need a little pick-me-up before the game is launched, you might try replaying Call of Duty One and United Offensive, Call of Duty 2, and, if you have the nerves for it, maybe try your hand at World At War.
