The Best Remastered Games for PC

April 21, 2017 By Ryan Harris

Remastered PC Games

Here are some of the best remastered games for PC you can buy on Steam.

Although most modern PC games manage to bedazzle the player with their breath-taking graphics and outstanding gameplay, there are those of us who long for those unique games, the golden oldies which transformed us into players.

The downside of wanting to play a slightly older game is the whole compatibility shebang. While some of the games are compatibility with high-end PCs, most of them are not. Issues related to running older PC games can vary, depending on the game. Some of them might not support the monitor’s refresh rate or resolution, while others simply won’t start because the system is just too alien to them.

Luckily, some of the best games ever to be released on PC have received remastered versions, which translates as wide-screen support, HD graphics, and more. Below, you will find a list with some of the best remastered games you can download and play today.

Resident Evil for PC

The immortal Resident Evil, which was initially released in 1996, has finally got the attention it deserved I the form of a high-definition remasterization. Step in the boots of Jill Valentine or Christ Redfield, two S.T.A.R.S operatives sent to investigate the strange murders that plague Raccoon City. Resident Evil Remastered includes alternate control schemes, widescreen support, improved sound, and post-processing effects.

System Shock

Developed by Night Dive Studios, System Shock 1 is one those games that revolutionize the entire FPS genre along with Doom and Quake. The upcoming remasterization of the game, orchestrated by the same developer, includes totally reconstructed graphics, better controls, improved UI, fiercer monster, but leaves the story and gameplay untouched.

Full Throttle

Harley bikes, dudes wearing awesome leather clothes, snappy punchlines, and LucasArts’ humor – these are the elements that define Full Throttle, considered to be one of the best point-and-click adventure games for PC. On the 18th of April 2017, the remastered version of the game was launched. It includes 4K resolutions, better sound, and improved controls.

Grim Fandango

Because death is anything but amusing and human, Grim Fandango comes to show you that even the fierce Grim Reaper has his share of work-related issues. Follow the adventure of Manny Calavera, a model employee of the Department of Death as he tries to untangle the threads of a cosmic conspiracy. The remastered version of the game includes fully repainted sceneries, high-resolution characters, tons of new artwork, and a 2-hour director commentary.

Bioshock 1

Few things can be said about Bioshock. It’s an unnerving, gut-wrenching, and mind-blowing game, set at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. Step into the boots of a plane crash survivor and explore the mad vision of a scientist who wanted to create a second Eden on the bottom of the ocean. The game’s remastered version includes widescreen support, high-resolution textures, controller support, and a lengthy director’s commentary.
