The Planet Nine could be triggering the tilt of the whole solar system.
(Mirror Daily, United States) At the beginning of the year, researchers got highly interested in an exciting subject, namely the Planet Nine. Evidence suggests that there is a new planet in our solar system and that it is affecting it. Specialists observed the tilting of the entire system, and they believe that the existence of this new world is causing the phenomenon.
A new study from experts suggests that the whole solar system is tilting because of the Planet Nine. The Sun itself is oriented differently than other planets in its system because its axis doesn’t fall perpendicularly on the orbits of different planets.
Scientists have long been trying to figure out what is behind the phenomenon of tilting encountered within the solar system. Now, a team of experts in California believes that they found the answer. The Planet Nine, located on the outskirts of the system, can induce the peculiar orientation.
Specialists estimate that the so-called Planet Nine is ten times larger than the Earth. It is also supposed to be five hundred times farther from the Sun than our Blue Planet. Experts also explain that Planet Nine makes an angle of thirty degrees from the other planets’ orbital plane. As a comparison, the Sun’s axis in inclined by only six degrees.
Expert Elizabeth Bailey headed the team of researchers. Konstantin Batygin is also one of the authors of the new study. He explains the complex phenomenon around Planet Nine and our solar system as follows:
“What’s actually going on is that the sun is staying put in its fixed reference frame and it’s the planetary orbits that are being tilted by Planet Nine. So Planet Nine has tilted the entire disk of the solar system by 6 degrees and because we live on that disk… to us it looks like the sun is tilted, but it’s actually the other way around.”
The team of specialists used computer tests and simulations to study the tilt angles and the way in which the mysterious planet is affecting the solar system. The researchers also investigated into other potential explanations of the orientations within our solar system. However, although other theories could emerge, none of them is flawless. This is why the scientists believe that the influence of the so-called Planet Nine is the best answer.
The new study was published in The Astrophysical Journal.
