According to a new press statement released by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tad Cummins, the ex-teacher who allegedly kidnapped 15-year-old Elizabeth Thomas, was spotted by a Wal-Mart security camera in Oklahoma City. The video, dated March 15, shows Thomas and her abductor shopping in the supermarket.
A spokesperson for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation recently stated that the authorities have new leads regarding the whereabouts of Tad Cummins and Elizabeth Thomas. Acting on a tip received from a Wal-Mart employee, TBI officers went to Oklahoma City in order to review the security footage.
The tape retrieved from the supermarket located at 100 East Interstate Service Road shows Cummins and Thomas shopping in the Wal-Mart store. The employee who notified the authorities declared that Cummins paid with cash for their products and left.
Unfortunately, none of the store’s outdoor cameras captured the vehicle Cummins and Elizabeth were using. At the moment, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is trying to determine whether or not Tad Cummins used the same silver Nissan Rogue or if he acquired another vehicle. Another point of interest is finding out if Cummins and Thomas are actually hiding in Oklahoma City or if they’re just passing by.
Presently, the investigations are being conducted by TBI, and the Oklahoma City Police Department was not involved. As you know, Elizabeth Thomas (15) was last seen by her uncle who dropped her off at her house on the 15th of March.
New evidence shows that the former teacher and Thomas may have had an inappropriate relationship. A memo made public by the Culleoka Unit School in Tennessee reveals that Tad Cummins and Beth Thomas were caught kissing in class.
However, when confronted with this by the school’s board, both of them denied the allegations. Before kidnapping Thomas, Cummins was suspended and warned to stay away from Thomas. His contract with the Culleoka Unit School was terminated shortly after news of Cummins abducting Thomas emerged.
It would also appear that Tad Cummins is married and has two children with Jill Cummins, his spouse. On Friday, the woman filed a divorce on the ground inappropriate marital conduct and irreconcilable differences.
Jill Cummins has gotten involved in TBI’s efforts to track down Tad and Elizabeth Thomas. Shortly after filing the divorce, his wife pleaded Tad to put an end to his madness and to return the young girl home.
