TBI said that there are still no leads regarding the whereabouts of Tad Cummins and Elizabeth Thomas.
As the days go by, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation grows more concerned about the fate of Elizabeth Thomas, the 15-year-old girl who was abducted by former teacher Tad Cummins. Even though two Amber Alerts have been issued, the authorities are still no closer to finding Thomas and her abductor. According to a recent press release, it appears that Thomas’s kidnapping was premeditated.
Bucky Rowland of the Maury County Sheriff’s Office said that there is much concern regarding what might have happened to the 15-year-old girl who went missing on Monday. Rowland said that the authorities are nowhere near finding a good lead that might help them track down Tad Cummins and his victim.
As you recall, Elizabeth Thomas, a 15-year-old girl from Columbia, was reported missing on Monday. According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the victim was last seen on Monday, at approximately 7:30 am, entering the Shoney’s Restaurant. The last person to have talked with the girl before her disappearance was her friend who dropped her off at the restaurant.
The authorities have also declared that a surveillance camera mounted at a nearby Shell gas station captured Tad Cummins refueling his silver Nissan Rogue. TBI presumes that after leaving the gas station, Cummins must have accosted his victim and forced her to get inside the vehicle. Furthermore, the authorities have discovered that Tad Cummins has two handguns in his possession.
Rowland and his colleagues have reasons to believe that ex-school teacher might have planned Thomas’s abduction from the very beginning. According to witnesses, it appears that Cummins made multiple sexual advances towards Thomas when he was still her teacher. Moreover, some witnesses declared seeing the perpetrator kissing Thomas while at school.
Since Thomas’s abduction, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued two Amber Alerts. However, even though the public was thoroughly informed about the case’s gravity, the number of tips and lead received by the investigators was much too small to pinpoint the kidnapper’s location.
Latest estimates reveal that the authorities received approximately 125 tips from all around the state from citizens who allegedly saw Cummins’s vehicle. Unfortunately, this is the smallest number of tips received by the authorities after an Amber Alert has been declared.
Meanwhile, Rowland and his colleagues are fearing for the girl’s life. The law enforcement officer revealed that, at this point, the man has nothing more to lose nor fear, and that an attempt on Thompson’s life is a very distinct possibility.
