Google Photos Makes Photo Editing Easier

March 4, 2016 By Matthew Slotkin Leave a Comment

"Man taking a picture on his smartphone"

The new version of the Google Photos app will make photo editing easier.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – The age of Picasa is over. Google photos makes photo editing easier and more fun. The latest update to the editor brings plenty of new, exciting, user-friendly features that will make your social media profiles look more artistic and your phone’s storage emptier.

Google photos makes photo editing easier and more fun. And the new version brings much-awaited modifications to cloud back-up and image browsing. Not to mention the new and improved editing tools that require far less time spent on each photograph.

With the new version of Google Photos, users can process an entire album faster and easier. The app has eliminated the need for saving each photo after editing it and then uploading a new one. Now, you can touch up one photograph and move right next to the other. Any changes will be saved automatically, and there is an existing option of removing all editing and reverting to the original file.

Also, for there is another solution to get rid of those pesky photo bombers. Google Photos allows you to perform a particular crop. The classic templates original, 4:3, 16:9 and square are still available. All you have to do is drag the photo to the wanted size ratio.

But there are much more enhancements that Google made to its app. For example, the search feature is now working astonishingly well. You can search for the word “dog”, and the improved algorithm will give you any image stored on your device that contains a dog.

This feature will come in handy to those people that store massive amounts of photographs on their mobile devices and who spend an eternity manually searching a single file.

And speaking of storage space, the app offers unlimited storage in Google cloud. This means that all of that memory you are currently occupying with tons of photographs will be cleared for other purposes. Also, you will be able to access your files from other devices using your cloud login information.

Other modifications to the photo editing tool include the transformation of “Collections”. The feature is now called “Albums,” which is a more classical approach. Every platform or application that involves photos must have an “Albums” category.

Right above the new, improved classification instrument, you will find a horizontal scrolling row that will offer you easier access to places, people, albums, movies, and videos.

The app is free-to-download and can already be accessed by Android users. Apple users have to wait a little while longer before it becomes available for iPhones.

Reddit’s Android App Is Officially In Beta Today

January 29, 2016 By John Birks Leave a Comment

"reddit"

(Mirror  Daily, United States) – The sign ups are closed, and Reddit’s Android app is officially in beta today to provide users with a mobile app directly from the website. There are several third-apps out there that would be of use to Reddit users, but they are now developing their own.

The thought of an official Reddit app had many users excited at the prospect. The platform has grown significantly in popularity in the last couple of years. It has a major userbase and has become one of the first source of several questionable uploads. The anonymity of the service has certainly drawn numerous internet users and will continue to do so.

Now, official app project is officially under way, and those who signed up should already have access. So, the opportunity has passed for those who might’ve been interested in participating and missed the chance to sign up.

For the moment, the closed beta is available only for Android devices, though Reddit CEO, Steve Huffman, stated that an iOS version will follow “soon”. There was no official date offered, but it’s likely that it won’t be too long before others will have access. The purpose is to both offer users a glimpse into what’s in store for 2016, and receive feedback on their mobile app. As stated by Huffman, smartphones is where the future of news and forums is heading.

They will be working on making Reddit more “engaging”. However, there will be a few changes in the process of “modernizing” the service.

In addition to the announcement of the beta, Huffman also mentioned the upcoming Transparency Report to arrive in March. Naturally for a source where the users remain anonymous and have free reign on posting content, there are several government entities who ask for access to data. Reddit will start being open and begin detailing those requests in order to keep their transparency toward users clearly available.

Things will also start being cleaned up a little on the platform. For now, shadow banning will no longer take place. It’s a clever and useful method of getting rid of spam bots, because they did not know they are banned. Thus, it would stop them from creating additional accounts and resume spamming. However, things are a little different when dealing with actual humans.

Reddit will start suspending accounts instead, and it will be done only by Reddit admins, as opposed to subreddit moderators. This will reportedly stop incidences of frivolous banning. It should also put a halt to some user complains, but it remains to be seen if matters will still be held in control. At the very least, to the level Reddit has been doing so far.
