You Continue to Die in Dark Souls III

April 18, 2016 By John Birks Leave a Comment

"Dark Souls III"

Dark Souls is not a game for the faint of heart.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – There is no surprise that you continue to die in Dark Souls III. From Software managed to create yet another masochistic video game that tortures the heart and mind of players. But when you finish it, after hours of torment, you are happier than Bloodborne or any of the Elder Scrolls games ever made you.

In the first two games, the main character was still clinging on to his humanity, the last shred of decency in it. This made him vulnerable, but it also gave him strength, the power to carry on and face the nightmarish monsters in the Dark Souls’ world.

Dark Souls I and II was focused on the struggle to save humanity from impending doom. The primary quest was preserving what made you human while battling unspeakable monsters and creatures of the dark in order to save the world as it is.

This time, things have changed. Players are no longer controlling a fragile Undead, but an Unkindled. The Ashen One sounds as terrifying as the bosses from the previous installments. But fret not, you continue to die in Dark Souls III as often as you did in I and II.

Now, the main character must search for other five Lords of Cinder that are going to help him re-enact the very first flames kindling. But Abys Watchers, Younger Prince Lothric, Ludleth of Courland, Devourer of Gods Aldrich, and Yhorm the Giant are hard to find and even harder to kill.

While Ludleth is crippled and aware of the consequences of the flame going out, the other four are ferocious and worthy to be called bosses. Some may hit the Ashen One hard from the beginning, others may want to make him sweat a little, and then there are those who will change their battle tactics in the middle of a fight. So it’s safe to say that you continue to die in Dark Souls III as often and as unexpected as in the previous installments.

The only difference is that From Software outdid itself while building Lothric. While traveling to find the other Lords of Cinder that are crucial in the rekindling of the vital flames, the Ashen One must traverse the city of Lothric.

There are also a couple of Easter eggs in the video game for the people that played the other two parts. Remember at the end when you had to ring the Bell of Awakening? Well, that awoke the Lords of Cinder, so the destruction in the third installment is pretty much your fault.

Apart from the fact that you continue to die in Dark Souls III as often as unexpectedly and violently as before, the game performs magnificently.

Slashy Souls Is Now Available On Mobile Devices

February 29, 2016 By John Birks Leave a Comment

"Slashy Souls screenshot"

Slashy Souls is as challenging as the video game from which it drew its inspiration.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – Are you tired of your phone? You want to replace it but it’s working just fine and you have no reason of getting a new one? Fear not because Slashy Souls is now available on mobile devices. The Dark Souls inspired mobile game will surely make you want to throw your device out of the window, as Dark Souls did with your gaming platform.

Bandai Namco, the company responsible for the soul-crushing Dark Souls, announced that it will release a mobile app based on the notoriously difficult video game. Slashy Souls is now available on mobile devices.

The game developing company also pointed out that while Slashy Souls is based on the story behind Dark Souls, it has nothing to do with the action of the video game. The stories live in parallel universes if you want to think about it like that.

Because it is quite hard to include all of those moves and ducks and jumps in a mobile app, Slashy Souls was designed as a runner gaming up. The player basically runs along the dark plains of existence and battles monsters inspired by the Dark Souls gameplay.

There are a lot of different badges that you can collect on your running rampage, but there are also a lot of traps that could end your life in a jiffy. For example, you could be happily defeating a monster and after you run along your merry way a bear trap rips you in two.

So Slashy Souls is in fact inspired by the soul-crushing video game franchise. Like its mommy, the mobile game is unpredictable and you can die any second. There are no “dead moments” when you can breathe a sigh of relief. No, there are only moments of death, every moment, throughout the gameplay.

At least, Bandai Namco was honest about the difficulty level of its new mobile app. The company is marketing the app with the punchline “Why Wait? Die Today!”

Slashy Souls is now available on mobile devices and it can be downloaded for free. It seems that Bandai Namco is putting a lot of faith into their new app, and they are entitled to do so as all the games that were produced by the company lately were very successful.

Even though the Temple Run-like mobile game came as a bit of a surprise, fans are pleased to have yet another Bandai Namco wonder on their hands.

If you’re not convinced whether or not to download it, even though it’s free, you can check out the video below.

Necropolis – “A Diabolical Dungeon Delve”

February 27, 2016 By Ryan Harris Leave a Comment

"Necropolis video game still"

Necropolis will feature ever-changing dungeons in a monster filled town.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – From the studio that brought you “Shadowrun Returns” and the publisher behind the terrifying, nerve-wracking, most difficult game ever made, “Dark Souls”, prepare to face a hoard of ghosts in an unfriendly dungeon town in Necropolis – “A Diabolical Delve”.

Harebrained Schemes has convinced Bandai Namco to join the team behind Necropolis – “A Diabolical Dungeon Delve”. And even though the game was supposed to be released next month, they have delayed the event until this summer.

While it is no surprise that a video game release was delayed, it is interesting to see that Harebrained Schemes involved Bandai Namco in the game a few weeks before it was supposed to be launched.

There could be a few explanations as to why this happened. One could be the fact that the game only needed a new pair of eyes and the launch was delayed because Bandai Namco discovered some really nasty bugs. The other, which is more plausible, is that the game was nowhere near being ready to be launched, so they called in an extra pair of hands and announced the modified release date.

There is this constant problem in the gaming world. Either a company launches a game on its due date and then has to release additional patches because the finite product was actually far from being finite. And that makes players extremely angry, see the first month of Fallout 4 for that.

Or they delay the launch, making gamers feel anxious and impatient, rather than “I want to throw my gaming platform into the publisher’s head” feeling they get when they find a glitch at every corner.

Necropolis – “A Diabolical Dungeon Delve” will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Mac this summer. Bandai Namco will be deal with the duties involving console publishing while Harebrained Schemes announced that it will self-publish the video game on Steam.

Mitch Gitelman, the president of Harebrained Schemes declared in a press release that they are not happy with slipping the release date, but they want to offer to the players the best experience that they can. He added that a console release involves an additional amount of significant development work.

He ended his declaration by saying that the additional months will only make Necropolis – “A Diabolical Dungeon Delve” better for both consoles and PC.

Necropolis – “A Diabolical Dungeon Delve” is an action video game in which players must travel into a sort of dungeon town inhabited by ghosts of giant beasts. The dungeons and the opponents change constantly making it quite difficult for the player to hold on to its only life.

You can check out the teaser in the video below.

Prepare to Constantly Die in the Third Dark Souls Game

February 9, 2016 By John Birks Leave a Comment

"Prepare to Constantly Die in the Third Dark Souls Game"

Prepare to constantly die in the third Dark Souls game as the cinematic shows the most chilling landscape so far.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – Prepare to constantly die in the third Dark Souls game of the series. The cinematic that was released by the From Software team is as chilling as both the previous installment. And from the looks of the game’s trailer, the action takes place in the most inhospitable and chilling location players have ever experienced.

The third installment of the Dark Souls franchise, which urges gamers to “Embrace the Darkness”, will be available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on the 12th of April. So prepare to constantly die in the third Dark Souls game because from the look of the cinematic trailer there are lots of corners or ice sheets from which monsters can jump out and kill you after you’ve already been murdered five seconds ago at the previous bump on the road.

Bandai Namco, the publisher of the Dark Souls game declared that the cinematics only offers a tiny look at the location in which the latest Dar Souls game action takes place. That means that the main character’s journey of extinguishing the last flame will take him beyond the icy planes and deserted caves that we are teased with in the cinematic trailer.

According to the latest teaser that From Software has released, when the main character arrives at his destination he is greeted by the toll of a bell and the sound awakens the fierce Cinder lords. And from the looks of them, they aren’t only fierce, they will make you wish you insured your PC, Xbox One and PlayStation against rage accidents while playing Dark Souls Three.

The Giant Yhorm, Aldrich, the Undead Legion of Farron and the Abyss Watchers look like the kind of boss battles that keep you up all night wondering why Bandai Namco hates gamers so much. And Yhorm, well, that doesn’t look like a boss battle you could win in only one sitting, or two, or three for that matter seeing how he’s as tall as the Statue of Liberty and you are supposed to defeat him in battle.

It seems that the From Software team actually tried their best to make “Dark Souls Three: Embrace the Darkness” the kind of game that you do not want to stop playing. They have upgraded the combat with new weapon types, new combat moves, more tactics and speed.

Al that remains is that this April 12th you should prepare to constantly die in the third Dark Souls game while deeply enjoying it.

If you didn’t have a chance to see the cinematic, check out the video embedded below.
