Sexual Assault Complaints at Berkeley

April 6, 2016 By Melissa Gansler Leave a Comment

"Sexual Assault Complaints at Berkeley"

There was a total of nineteen sexual assault complains at Berkeley University involving staff.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – There has been a concerning number of sexual assault complaints at Berkeley University over the last couple of years. The individuals involved were respected faculty members.

In the light of the recent events, the chancellor of Berkeley University announced that he is forming a sexual harassment, assault, and violence committee. The chancellor took this decision after nineteen complaints of sexual harassment were filed against faculty members.

It seems that individuals from the faculty, staff and students were guilty of sexual harassment. Among the cited incidents, there is also the case of Yann Hufnagel, the Cal coach. The basketball coach was accused of harassment by a student. The coach pleaded not guilty, and his attorney declared that the man only engaged in mutual flirtation. Also, from Hufnagel’s testimony, the accuser was the one who initiated the flirtation.

Recently, the attorney of the basketball teacher declared that Hufnagel is ready to come back to work as an assistant coach. The man is missing his job and considers that his wrongful accusation terminated his career much earlier than expected.

Furthermore, the Dean of Law School at Berkeley University, Sujit Choudhry was forced to resign after he was accused of the same offense by his executive assistant. According to the woman’s testimony, Choudhry repeatedly touched and kissed her.

It seems that assistants were an easy target at Berkeley because the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Graham Fleming was also forced to resign his commission after his assistant filed a sexual harassment complaint against him.

On the same list, there is also Geoff Marcy, an astronomy professor. The man faces four charges of harassment filed by different students.

The committee that the chancellor is forming will address and examine culture issues. Moreover, it will be in charge of recommending various ways of improving campus services, practices, and policies. The members of the committee will try to encourage all students who consider that they have been wrongly treated or abused to speak up, even if they are doing so against a prominent faculty member.

Sexual harassment is defined as being coercion or bullying of a sexual nature. People who are engaging in the activity usually promise rewards, professional or material, in exchange for sexual favors.

Generally, sexual harassment laws do not include things like teasing, flirting, or offhand comments. But the social and legal interpretation of sexual harassment depends on the culture and the country where the act takes place.

The sexual assault complaints at Berkeley prompted the formation of a select committee that will try and solve and prevent future incidents.

Janice Dickinson Sued Bill Cosby Again

March 29, 2016 By John Birks Leave a Comment

"Bill Cosby"

Bill Cosby is now 78 years old and it has been a while since he done any acting.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – Just a few days after being diagnosed with breast cancer, Janice Dickinson sued Bill Cosby again. This time, the former supermodel claims that Cosby’s denial of his rape made her re-live the entire traumatic and experience and re-victimize herself.

According to Dickinson’s claims, back in 1982, she was at a lake cabin with the comedian actor. It seems that his charms were not convincing enough to get her to bed on her own free will, so he slipped some drugs into her drink and then raped her.

Cosby denied the accusation and his lawyers managed to prove his innocence. But Cosby’s subterfuge caused the ex-supermodel to feel re-victimized. But Dickinson’s lawyers are contending the denials.

Debre Katz Weintraub, the court judge in charge of the Dickinson vs. Cosby case, has emitted a motion that allows the lawyers of both parts to address questions.

The hearing taking place today, Tuesday the 29th of March, comes only a day after the famous ex-supermodel announced that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and that she will be forced to undergo radiation treatment and surgery.

The comedian’s lawyers are seeking to obtain a dismissal because they claim that Dickinson has been giving different accounts of the incident between her and Cosby over the years.

Furthermore, they are arguing that the letters sent to the media by the comedian’s former attorney were not legally protected communications and that they shouldn’t receive any supplementary protection.

Dickinson tried to write about her traumatizing Lake Tahoe experience in a memoir from 2002 entitled “No Lifeguard on Duty: The Accidental Life of the World’s First Supermodel”, but the publisher she was collaborating with refused to include the story in the book.

Dickinson was then cast as a member of “The Surreal Life” show on VH1 and “America’s Next Top Model” on UPN.

This is not the first time that Cosby has been sued by a woman claiming she has been raped by the African American comedian. Dozens of such accusations have been directed towards the 78 years old actor. Most of the claims were resolved, but one will forever be remembered by his fans.

Back in 2004, a former worker at the Temple University charged Bill Cosby will sexual assault. She claimed that the comedian raped her in his suburban home in Philadelphia. He was found guilty, and the actor is now free because he paid his bail of $1 million.

And now, because Janice Dickinson sued Bill Cosby again after hearing she has breast cancer, his freedom could be put at risk.

HIV-Positive Man Raped 2-Year-Old and Impregnated a 14-Year-Old

March 24, 2016 By Joe Hennessey Leave a Comment

"Prison"

David Wilson declared he is not sorry for what happened with the teenager.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – An HIV-positive man raped 2-year-old and impregnated a 14-year-old. When questioned about his deeds, he said that he is not sorry for the sex, but regrets the fact that he passed the HIV to the girls. The court sentenced him to life in prison.

Gruesome stories are told about men condemned to life in jail after being accused of child rape. As the legend goes, a lot of them end up spending little time behind bars because other inmates help them achieve a significantly shorter lifespan.

If the stories are real, than the future colleagues of David Wilson won’t be very sympathetic when they hear his life’s story and the reason that landed him in jail.

After his drug-abusing sister had moved away, Wilson was left in charge of taking care of his niece. The 34-year-old man left in charge of the 2-year-old infant did atrocious things to the toddler. His actions were so cruel that they left an entire nation in awe.

Wilson repeatedly raped the little girl. The sexual abuse was so intense that doctors were forced to perform reconstruction surgery on the developing genital parts of the toddler. And apart from raping her, the man also infected the child with HIV, gonorrhea and chlamydia.

Since the immunity system of a two years old is not as efficient as that of a male adult, the sexually transmitted diseases that the man bestowed upon the child significantly affected her weakened organism. So aside from being charged with multiple accounts of sexual assault, the man should be accused of seriously endangering the life of the toddler.

But his deeds are worse. The HIV positive man not only abused his own niece, but he also infected and impregnated 14 years old.

The girl, whose identity was not disclosed, declared that they were in love. According to her testimony, Wilson would pick her up from school, park his car in an intimate location and proceed to have intercourse with the minor.

The last time this happened, they did not use protection. In consequence, the 14 years old teenager is now pregnant and HIV positive.

Wilson also stated that he is in love with the girl. He stated that he is not sorry for the sex because their love powered it. Instead, he is sorry for the fact that he infected her with several STDs.

Alabama Legislator Proposed Chemical Castration as Punishment for Child Rapists

March 7, 2016 By Joe Hennessey Leave a Comment

"Sexual abuse victim"

It’s frightening to see that people are opposing Hurst’s initiative not thinking about the children.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – We’ve all seen the touching Oscars performance that Lady Gaga gave. Sexual abuse survivors of all ages appeared on the scene next to her while trying to choke back tears. “Until it happens to you” reverberated around the still, touched audience. It’s obvious that the victims are left scarred for life. But what happens to the offenders? An Alabama legislator proposed chemical castration as punishment for child rapists.

Steve Hurst is proposing that sexual offenders that target children under the age of twelve be castrated (surgically or chemically). And the world is turning against him.

According to the bill that Hurst is trying to push, sexual molesters would have to be 21-year-old or more, they would have to finish their sentence and, the rapists must also pay for the procedure themselves.

It sounds like a harsh sentence, but as the Alabama legislator puts it, “the punishment must fit the crime”. He defends his bill against the people attacking his lack of humanity saying that he is not a monster for proposing such drastic measures.

The real monsters are those people who take advantage of an innocent, defenseless child. For a couple of minutes of pleasure, they scar the infant for life. Why should they serve some years in prison and then go back to minding their own business, free, on the streets while their victims go through hours of therapy, some ending up committing suicide?

And Hurst is not proposing something that out of the ordinary. States like Florida, California, Louisiana, Georgia, Oregon, Montana, Wisconsin and Texas already allow surgical or chemical castration for those found guilty of repeated sexual offenses.

This is not the first time when the Republican state representative tried to introduce the new legislation.

The Civil Liberties American Union and other groups that focus on defending fundamental human rights are opposing the bill qualifying it as being unusual and cruel.

In response, Hurst asked them who is more inhumane, the individual trying to impose a severe punishment that will make molesters think twice before robbing children of their innocence, or the monster that looks at a minor and gets aroused? A person who pushes a young child into having suicidal thoughts triggered by a sexual assault is not a human being and should be treated in accordance.

An Alabama legislator proposed chemical castration as punishment for child rapists, and the world seems more focused on defending the offenders rather than the victims.
