Starbound Will Be Launched Soon

April 5, 2016 By John Birks Leave a Comment

"Starbound"

Starbound will take you into wondrous, exotic locations that are beautifully rendered in pixels.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – After spending a few years in Early Access mode on Steam, Starbound will be launched soon. Chucklefish announced on the game’s official website that Starbound will be launched soon. They only need to finish the 1.0 update and then the two-dimensional Sci-fi game will be available to all who wish to explore it.

“So Starbound’s next update is the big 1.0, and it’s getting close, so I wanted to update everyone on where things are and what to expect. Leaving Early Access doesn’t mean the end of updates for Starbound by any means, instead it will mark a shift away from engine work and towards additional content creation.”

This announcement was made on the games official website. It seems that finally Chucklefish managed to complete its engine works and is ready to launch its long-awaited project.

If you’re one of the many people, who saw Starbound on Steam and decided to wait until it leaves Early Access and it becomes available to be played fully, then here is a quick look at the plot and overall characteristics.

In the game, you are a training Protector of the Terrene Protectorate organization. As the name suggests, the organization is set on maintaining peace in all the universe. The game begins at the moment in which you graduate your training, and you are sent to fulfill your mission as Protector.

There are eight total missions that take place in exotic locations like sunken libraries, mining facilities, and ancient temples. In order to unlock the main missions, you will have to complete a set of quests that force you to use the Starbound sandbox.

Clues are of paramount importance in the game, and you will find them by either talking to local folk, visiting different towns, building colonies, exploring dungeons and, of course, completing the required quests.

As tradition dictates, at the end of every main mission, there will be a boss waiting to fight with you. After you defeat the boss, you will meet new characters that will help you advance in the game.

The 1.0 update separates story/mission progression, ship, colony, and armor progression. Obviously, the missions will gradually increase in difficulty while the player progresses, but the gamer decides how to tackle weapons, items, and gears.

Starbound will be launched soon, so if you’re a fan of two-dimensional pixelated adventure games, then you should keep an eye out for the release date.

Steam Is Offering Atari Vault for $17

March 26, 2016 By Tara Hamilton Leave a Comment

"Missile Command"

Missile Command is one of the one hundred games that Atari is offering in the Vault.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – For those of you who are stricken with nostalgia, Steam is offering Atari Vault for $17. The Vault will feature 100 classic games like Pong, Missile Command, Asteroids, Haunted House and Centipede. All of them come with multiplayer and command enhanced features.

There was a time in the world of gaming when the name Atari brought chills down the spines of players worldwide. For the gaming standards of the 1970’s and 1980’s, the company was high tech, offering to fans unforgettable experiences with state of the art features and hours of fun.

The 2600 console and arcade cabinets were the central focus of gamers. There weren’t that many things to do to kill time during that period, so all of the attention fell on the classic, pixelated screens.

You might be wondering why you should spend $17, well $16,99, on a bunch of old games that you can download for free on pirating sites? The answer is simple. The pirated versions don’t always offer a firm grip on the controls, and they sometimes feel off. Like you’re playing COD on a 2 GB RAM computer.

In order to make the Vault more appealing, Atari improved some of the features like the multiplayer option and the commands. The games will perform excellently, and the purchase guarantees you unlimited hours of good old classic pixelated simple fun.

Plus, the entire collection occupies one gigabyte of space, that’s basically nothing. And you could alt-tab your way through the Vault and any other applications you have running on your PC, so it could be considered a background way of killing time.

The new controls mimic the old 2600 console, so the nostalgia will hit in hard. You can also compete with your old friends and compare lingering skills on the Steam Leaderboards. The multiplayer addition is available both for on-line and local use.

Atari even included a 3-D view of the games, just so that fans could bask in good old memories. If this hasn’t convinced you yet, then think about that fact that the Atari Vault can be the perfect gift for a former gaming parent.

With its small, limited requirements, the Vault can be accessed from any computer with Windows 7 and up. But keep in mind that Steam is offering Atari Vault for $17 for a limited time only. The full price is $19,99. So hurry up and take advantage of the 15 percent discount.

New Patch for Fallout IV Is Already Available for PC

March 1, 2016 By Ryan Harris Leave a Comment

"Fallout 4"

There are a couple dozen issues that the 1.4 patch fixes in Fallout IV.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – After it was released for beta last week, the new patch for Fallout IV is already available for PC. The content can be purchased on Steam. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 owners have to wait a little while longer to get their hands on the patch.

According to a tweet posted on the official page of the Bethesda Studios, the 1.4 update for PC gamers is already available on Steam. Also, they mentioned in the same post that they do not have any further information about the status of the update for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles.

If you look at the pattern that Bethesda created over the years with their game, patches and DLC releases, it’s likely that the console content will be made available sometime this weekend.

The 1.4 patch is valuable because it is meant to introduce DLC support for the three expansions that were recently detailed by the company while also offering new customization features for the Workshop in-game crafting system.

Furthermore, the patch is finally clearing up the screen effects that linger after the players use a scope. And that is not the only bug that it fixed.

Another big problem, the one with the Kremvh’s Tooth that was not spawning as it should have is, finally, fixed. So is the third-person sprinting glitch.

Below you can find the whole list of problems that the 1.4 patch fixes.

  • General performance and stability improvement
  • Kellogg’s desk will no longer change during the Clue Quest
  • The companions of the Red Glare Rocket quest can now be dismissed when the mission is over
  • When a settlement is under attack, players will be shown an updated message that will display the attack’s results.
  • There are additional ammo types for the Scrounger
  • Calvin Whitaker is no longer disappearing in Vault 81
  • Key cards are correctly spawning in Vault 75
  • Enemies are no longer spawning during Airship down
  • Pip-Boy no longer gets stuck when he is wearing a power armor in the first person and tries to switch weapons quickly
  • The autosave counter isn’t resetting anymore
  • When Pip-Boy is swimming his menu isn’t turning invisible anymore
  • Vendors now exchange caps correctly, even after you make consecutive transactions with them
  • The autosave and quicksave message is no longer persisting on the loading screens
  • Objects placed in water are now properly floating

The new patch for Fallout IV is already available for PC owners. Xbox One and PlayStation players must wait a little while longer.

Necropolis – “A Diabolical Dungeon Delve”

February 27, 2016 By Ryan Harris Leave a Comment

"Necropolis video game still"

Necropolis will feature ever-changing dungeons in a monster filled town.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – From the studio that brought you “Shadowrun Returns” and the publisher behind the terrifying, nerve-wracking, most difficult game ever made, “Dark Souls”, prepare to face a hoard of ghosts in an unfriendly dungeon town in Necropolis – “A Diabolical Delve”.

Harebrained Schemes has convinced Bandai Namco to join the team behind Necropolis – “A Diabolical Dungeon Delve”. And even though the game was supposed to be released next month, they have delayed the event until this summer.

While it is no surprise that a video game release was delayed, it is interesting to see that Harebrained Schemes involved Bandai Namco in the game a few weeks before it was supposed to be launched.

There could be a few explanations as to why this happened. One could be the fact that the game only needed a new pair of eyes and the launch was delayed because Bandai Namco discovered some really nasty bugs. The other, which is more plausible, is that the game was nowhere near being ready to be launched, so they called in an extra pair of hands and announced the modified release date.

There is this constant problem in the gaming world. Either a company launches a game on its due date and then has to release additional patches because the finite product was actually far from being finite. And that makes players extremely angry, see the first month of Fallout 4 for that.

Or they delay the launch, making gamers feel anxious and impatient, rather than “I want to throw my gaming platform into the publisher’s head” feeling they get when they find a glitch at every corner.

Necropolis – “A Diabolical Dungeon Delve” will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Mac this summer. Bandai Namco will be deal with the duties involving console publishing while Harebrained Schemes announced that it will self-publish the video game on Steam.

Mitch Gitelman, the president of Harebrained Schemes declared in a press release that they are not happy with slipping the release date, but they want to offer to the players the best experience that they can. He added that a console release involves an additional amount of significant development work.

He ended his declaration by saying that the additional months will only make Necropolis – “A Diabolical Dungeon Delve” better for both consoles and PC.

Necropolis – “A Diabolical Dungeon Delve” is an action video game in which players must travel into a sort of dungeon town inhabited by ghosts of giant beasts. The dungeons and the opponents change constantly making it quite difficult for the player to hold on to its only life.

You can check out the teaser in the video below.

Prepare Yourself to Time Bend in the New Superhot

February 26, 2016 By Ryan Harris Leave a Comment

"Superhot promotional poster"

Superhot is more like Sherlock Holmes meets Neo meets CoD, and it’s as great as the trailer teases.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – Prepare yourself to time bend in the new Superhot FPS indie action video game. The simplistic, action-packed, Sherlock Holmes-like FPS is now available on Steam in full body, after teasing the gaming world for almost two years with a sweat inducing demo.

Prepare yourself to time bend in the new Superhot. The indie FPS is super-hot, action-packed, Matrix-like and visually impressive.

And if you hurry up and get in on Steam you will be able to upload your killing streaks in the new “Killstagram”. The pause moments don’t count. Furthermore, Steam is offering a ten percent discount for the launching.

So if somehow you didn’t manage to find the demo in the past two years and experience the awesomeness of flaming red enemies running or pausing whenever you feel like lifting a finger, go here, test it, and don’t miss the Steam offer.

The minimalist indie action FPS is unique in its time-bending feature. The main idea of the Kickstarter-founded video game is that all of your enemies move when you do. If you pause, time slows down and your enemies freeze until you decide to move again.

This is one of the best features that FPS video games offered in a while. Forget Tom Clancy’s Division or whatever Black Ops the CoD developers are working on. Prepare yourself to Neo around bullets and Sherlock Holmes your way out of situations where the red flaming enemies surround you with no apparent way out.

The Superhot team spent a lot of time and resources developing the visual and conceptual part of the game. This made them ignore the back story a little bit. The player doesn’t actually know why he’s so special and hundreds of flaming glass-made creeps are trying to kill the main character in elevators, alleys, restaurants, office buildings and many other locations.

There are some instances in which something like an old-fashioned chat window appears and the player witnesses bits of conversations. The finest one is that in which the game characters are talking about the new Superhot video game.

It’s clear that a comprehensive back story was not one of their main concerns, but as long as the thirty levels of the game don’t bore you with their action-packed thrilling combats and you master your Sherlock and Nemo fighting techniques, then you will forget all about the lack of bigger, better background story.

Prepare yourself to time bend in the new Superhot, and do it quickly as the 10 percent Steam discount is limited.

You can also check out the launching trailer in the video below.
