Starbound Will Be Launched Soon

April 5, 2016 By John Birks Leave a Comment

"Starbound"

Starbound will take you into wondrous, exotic locations that are beautifully rendered in pixels.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – After spending a few years in Early Access mode on Steam, Starbound will be launched soon. Chucklefish announced on the game’s official website that Starbound will be launched soon. They only need to finish the 1.0 update and then the two-dimensional Sci-fi game will be available to all who wish to explore it.

“So Starbound’s next update is the big 1.0, and it’s getting close, so I wanted to update everyone on where things are and what to expect. Leaving Early Access doesn’t mean the end of updates for Starbound by any means, instead it will mark a shift away from engine work and towards additional content creation.”

This announcement was made on the games official website. It seems that finally Chucklefish managed to complete its engine works and is ready to launch its long-awaited project.

If you’re one of the many people, who saw Starbound on Steam and decided to wait until it leaves Early Access and it becomes available to be played fully, then here is a quick look at the plot and overall characteristics.

In the game, you are a training Protector of the Terrene Protectorate organization. As the name suggests, the organization is set on maintaining peace in all the universe. The game begins at the moment in which you graduate your training, and you are sent to fulfill your mission as Protector.

There are eight total missions that take place in exotic locations like sunken libraries, mining facilities, and ancient temples. In order to unlock the main missions, you will have to complete a set of quests that force you to use the Starbound sandbox.

Clues are of paramount importance in the game, and you will find them by either talking to local folk, visiting different towns, building colonies, exploring dungeons and, of course, completing the required quests.

As tradition dictates, at the end of every main mission, there will be a boss waiting to fight with you. After you defeat the boss, you will meet new characters that will help you advance in the game.

The 1.0 update separates story/mission progression, ship, colony, and armor progression. Obviously, the missions will gradually increase in difficulty while the player progresses, but the gamer decides how to tackle weapons, items, and gears.

Starbound will be launched soon, so if you’re a fan of two-dimensional pixelated adventure games, then you should keep an eye out for the release date.

Mozilla Firefox 44 Now Welcomes Push Notifications

January 27, 2016 By Joe Hennessey Leave a Comment

"mozilla"

(Mirror Daily, United States) – Mozilla Firefox 44 now welcomes push notifications after following in the footsteps of Google Chrome. The highly useful feature will likely be a welcome addition for Firefox users, and it’s all ready for download right now. All you have to do is get the latest version of the browser.

Back in April, 2015, Google’s Chrome browser introduced push notifications for their Chrome 42 version, while the rest fell behind. Firefox, however, is catching up. The Mozilla web browser for Windows, Mac, or Linux will now be using the Web Push protocol W3C (Worldwide Web Consortium) and the Push API (application programming interface).

The description of push notifications is relatively easy. Websites will be able to send you notifications, such as new mail or chat notices, even if they are no longer open in a browser tab. It’s incredibly useful, considering it can only be done with the user’s permission. It’s a simple matter of managing which sites you will allow to nag you about various services on the web. Be it Facebook, e-mail, chats, or anything else, there won’t be a need to keep the tab open.

It saves a lot of time between switching and refreshing the pages.

In order to manage their push notifications, users need to head over to the browser’s Options, Content, Choose, and then under Notifications. This way, they will be able to pick and choose which websites will be allowed to send them. Perhaps you might not want all of them to nag you at the same time.

It should be well underlined that Web Push requires explicit permission for it to send push notifications.

Firefox is also the second among popular browsers to enable the feature, following Google’s Chrome. Now, the others have been left behind, such as Safari, Opera and Microsoft’s Edge, though it is possible they will update at some point in the future as well.

In the newest update, Firefox also renounced support for the RC4 cipher over HTTPS connections. It’s a service commonly used on browsers for the purpose of encryption, but it has been noted to have several vulnerabilities across the years. Google once again took the lead on the matter and made this modification for Chrome 48, with Microsoft to do the same for Internet Explorer and Edge later this year.

The Firefox 44 is available for download, so users can start managing their push notifications at once. It could be particularly useful for e-mail, weather, shopping, or social networks.
