Huston Remains May Date From 1997

"Houston"

Heavy rain and powerful wind made the job of the police department even more difficult.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – The police department in Houston found the remains of what appeared to be a human skeleton in a field located in the southern part of the county. Investigators believe that the Huston remains may date from 1997 and belong to Jessica Cain, a seventeen years old girl who disappeared in the Clear Lake Area, nineteen years ago.

Friday, during a storm that seemed to want to wash away any human presence in the area, the members of the Huston police department were still excavating the site. They were searching around the Hobby Airport, along the East Orem horse pasture.

A homicide division detective from the police department of Huston, Richard Martinez, declared that the team working on the case has no idea who is the person they unearthed. But there are quite a few who speculate that the Huston remains may date from 1997.

Medical examiners from Harris County will analyze the skeletal remains and compare the prelevated DNA with that of Jessica Cain.

The seventeen years old completely vanished on the 17th of August, 1997 while heading back to her home on Tiki Island. Cain was returning from a Clear Lake restaurant where she attended a cast party of the musical she performed in at her high school.

The only clues the police ever found were her purse and her truck. The vehicle was locked and abandoned somewhere near the Interstate 45, the usual road she used to take to get home.

According to Martinez, the location in which they found the remains coincides with a spot in which William Lewis Reece was seen quite recently. The convicted kidnapper is presently collaborating with the police, indicating to them were to search for his buried victims.

Reece was seen multiple times in the field, accompanied by police officers and with heavy shackles around his hands. He seemed to be pointing towards different spots, explaining something to the officers he was with.

The team handling the Huston remains case searched the field for a few weeks before managing to find something. It was not until Friday, around 2:30 PM that the remains were unearthed by a backhoe operator.

After the discovery, the police immediately called forensic analysts and an anthropologist. After making sure that the skeleton parts belonged to a human, the police continued to search the site.

Martinez did not mention a possible date when Houston PD will get the results of the forensics analysis. But the team declared that if the body proves to belong to somebody else than Cain, they will work together with the police officers from the town of the identified victim.
