(Mirror Daily, United States) – The hunt for William Boyette and Mary Rice had come to an end on Tuesday when the authorities corned the criminal duo in a Georgia Motel Room.
After a standoff, Mary Rice, Boyette’s accomplice, surrendered to the authorities. Seeing that he had nowhere to flee, William Boyette committed suicide using his handgun. Mary Rice may receive the capital punishment for her association with the multistate serial killer.
David Morgan of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office declared the Boyette and Rice’s killing spree has come to an end on Tuesday after several state agencies accompanied by a SWAT team cornered the criminal duo in a room they’ve booked at the West Point Motel in Virginia.
The law enforcement officer declared that someone in the area dialed 911 and told the authorities that he sighted the couple at the West Point Motel. The authorities moved in to apprehend the man and his partner in crime.
As you know, the authorities mounted a statewide manhunt for William Boyette and Mary Rice, who were responsible for the deaths of four persons. Boyette’s recent victim, 28-year-old Kayla Crocker, was found in critical condition in her house by the woman’s mother. The woman was rushed to the hospital where she received treatment for her gunshot wound but was declared dead on Tuesday morning.
During their multistate killing spree, Mary Rice and William Boyette killed three other women in their homes – Alicia Ann Greer (30), Jacqueline Jeanette Moore (39), and Peggy Broz (52). Boyette’s first victims were found on the 31st of February just outside the Emerald Sands Inn, located on Highway 90.
Peggy Broz was discovered dead in the backyard of her Baldwin County residence. Investigators declared that after killing Broz, the two stole the victim’s car and used it to stage their escape. They would do the same after shooting Crocker in her home.
Authorities declared that a public surveillance system captured the two fugitives having lunch at a Shell gas station on which they drove using Croker’s stolen Chevrolet Cobalt.
Morgan said that after a tense standoff, Rice surrendered to the police at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Seconds later, the authorities heard a gunshot coming from inside the couple’s room. Upon storming the room, they found William Boyette lying on the floor in a pool of blood. The officer declared that with Rice’s capture and Boyette’s suicide, things can now return to normal.
