‘The Banner Saga’ Is Coming To Consoles Next Month

‘The Banner Saga’ will arrive for PS4 and Xbox One

(Mirror Daily, United States) – After a year of waiting, ‘The Banner Saga’ is coming to consoles next month, as the porting was confirmed and no more delays are expected. That means that the epic role-playing strategy game riddled with Vikings is about to be played on controllers as well. Both users in North America and Europe will be getting the beautifully crafted adventure on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

‘The Banner Saga’ is an “epic Viking RPG strategy game” that features a gorgeous animated style. The story progresses based on the player’s choice of travel, conversation, as well as combat. They’re set on the quest of ensuring the survival of their entire Viking civilization. Not all will make it out intact, but most will persevere, and your choices will determine the outcome.

The strategy game has seen to great success on both PC and mobiles, becoming the winner of several awards. It’s visually stunning with a beautiful story that will allow the player to leave their personal mark. It initially launched for the PC in January 2014, and the port for consoles has been in work ever since. However, it has proven to be both time and money consuming for the studios.

Due to problems with the companies in charge of the porting to current-generation consoles, the versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have been delayed. There have been talks about a potential feature on PlayStation Vita, but it has now officially been “put on the back burner”. It’s less likely to happen in a timely manner or ever.

However, players will still get the chance to enjoy the epic adventure on consoles, and it will release on January 12th, 2016, almost two years after the initial launch. Console gamers will be able to enjoy their own personal journey through the game, littered with strategic choices that will affect how their story ends.

According to the studios, it took a lot of time to properly develop the game in a way that would fit the controllers of a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Less than a month from now, players will have the opportunity to test it out.

The development will be favorable with the upcoming sequel, ‘The Banner Saga 2’, which is also set to launch at some point in 2016 for the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It means that the porting will be much speedier than it was for the first installment, and console players will not be required to wait a whole year.

According to the studios, gamers will be able to import all their saved data, character, story choices, and the caravan from the first game to the second, once it releases. That way, they will remain on their chosen path across the harsh and beautiful lands, with more decisions to make and fights to be had.
